Sarah Von Dreele

Sarah Von Dreele has spent much of her professional life as a creative director and branding consultant, employing her strong visual communication methods to facilitate large and small-scale branding campaigns for over the last twenty years. What began as a simple creative exercise at the end of the day quickly evolved into a collection of surface designs, painted exclusively in gouache.

Upon her debut at ICFF 2019, Sarah was named a “trend-setting designer” by Interior Design Magazine, and one of Architectural Digest PRO’s “21 Favorite furnishings” from the show. She has been named an Interior Design Magazine Best of Year Awards finalist for her eponymous line of wallpapers and fabrics.

Sarah Von Dreele’s line of bespoke wallpapers and textiles are available to the trade, and the collection is represented across the country by Thomas Lavin, Hewn, Jim Thompson, Jeffrey Michaels and Lepere. Sarah received a BFA in Graphic Design from Rhode Island School of Design in 1997. Between developing new products, painting what she sees, and keeping up with her fifth-grader, she patiently pursues her interest in learning the French language. Sarah lives and works in New York City, her home since 2002.

Artist Statement

In 2016, I discovered painting as a vehicle to create a quiet space from an emotionally traumatic experience. Through the meditative nature of making, I found myself safely contained in stillness, allowing me to process and evolve. This iterative and reflective act eventually resulted in a body of work which was foundational for the launch of the Sarah Von Dreele brand.

With an inherent identity built on the connectivity we have with ourselves, others, and the greater space around us, my work holds memory and meaning. The work documents the sensitivity and presence required for experiential learning and are symbolic of renewal and resilience, an introspective strength applicable to broader landscapes and narratives.
